Lex Magica

Principles

1) Duels Arcane are the only acceptible form of combat between Senate members.

2) When a new mage is discovered, report them to the Investigator, if found acceptible, then forwared to the Senate

3) Limit magic around Sleepers.

4) Theoretical research is free; it will not be limited by the Senate.

Rules of Arbitration

1) We, the Senate, are the jury for all crimes.

2) Punishment for crimes will be voted upon by the Senate.

3) A 2/3 vote is needed to decide.

4) The Plaintiff and the Defendant do not vote.

5) A representative may chosen to speak for either side on their behalf. The represenatives will also not vote.

6) A unanimous vote is needed to punish someone with death.

7) Under no circumstances will soul taking be considered acceptible, either by mages or by jury.

Voting and Amendments

1) A ¾ vote is needed to approve an amendment.

2) A majority vote is needed for all other decisions.

The Duel Arcane

1) The only acceptible duel is the Duel Arcane; other duels are forbidden.

2) Only Arcana are allowed in a Duel Arcane; no artifacts, familiars, Tass, or other assistance are allowed.

3) All Duels shall be public.

4) Each Duelist must choose a Second for the Duel to serve as witness.

5) A Duelmaster must oversee the Duel Arcane, and have the right to end a Duel at their discresion. The presiding Duelmaster must not be a participant in the Duel.

6) All weapons must be surrendered to the Duelmaster before the fight.

7) No physical harm is allowed inside of a Duel Arcane; those who break this rule will forfiet the Duel and will be tried before the Senate.

Positions

1) The following positions are hereby established by the Hancock Accord for the Senate.

a) First Speaker—The one who manages the Senate.

b) Secretary—The recorder of the Senate. Should the First Speaker office be vacant, he or she must conduct an election for the new First Speaker.

c) Investigator—In charge of maintaining vigilance of the Senate.

d) Sentinel—Defender of the Senate from threats within and without.

e) Researcher—An official position for the furthering of magical knowledge and the monitoring of researchers of dangerous topics.

f) Treasurer—The person in charge of maintaining any Senate resources.

g) Healer—an offical healer for the Senate, responsible for the physical and mental well-being of the Senate.

h) Cartographer—a person responsible for mapping the shifting ley lines and Hallows.

The Senate Proper

1) The first goal of every member of the Senate shall be to actively oppose the Seers of the Throne or those who support the Lie. as they can in a manner they see fitting and in accordance with the Lex Magica.

2) Every member of the Senate has a responsibility to the Senate and a job to fulfill.

3) A member of the Senate may be removed from the Senate as noted in the Rules of Arbitration. Those who are removed from the Senate are no longer bound by the rules or protections of the Senate or the Lex Magica.
